How Much Do Surveys Cost?

One of our most  commonly asked questions is ‘How much will my survey cost me? For this reason we have prepared a Survey Price Guide to give you an idea of the price range you can expect.  

 

Site Surveys / Contour and Detail Surveys:

We map out both natural and man-made features which gives you a comprehensive overview. This survey type is our most requested type of survey from homeowners and for builders which is crucial for planning any construction or landscaping work, ensuring everything fits just right.

Our detail and contour site surveys typically start from $1700 + GST and this varies depending on the size of your block, distance traveled or complexities regarding trees and other structures.

Occasionally for much larger and more complex properties, a quote may end up being closer to $3000 + GST for the time spent, the amount of surveyors required and equipment required to provide an accurate site survey.

Setout Construction Surveys / Ascon Surveys / Form 12’s:

For those of you about to build, a construction survey is your blueprint for success. It lays the groundwork for your project, marking out exactly where everything should go. It’s like giving your builders a guided map, ensuring they build precisely where they’re supposed to.

Post-construction, an as-built survey takes stock of what’s been built, providing a record that’s often required by councils or utility providers. It’s the final piece of the puzzle, confirming that the finished product matches the plans.

Our price range for these surveys typically ranges between $1800 + GST upto $2200 + GST. This will often include one or two site visits along with your Form 12, however if a third site visit is required (for a height check for example) then these may go as high as $2600 + GST.

In order to provide an accurate quote for these types of surveys, we do request a full set of plans along with a certifiers decision notice first, so we can make an informed decision.

Boundary / Identification Surveys: 

A boundary survey does exactly what it says on the tin – it defines the exact edges of your property. This process involves digging through records and documents, some as old as your great-grandparents, and physical fieldwork to mark or remark boundary lines. Our Cadastral or Identification Surveys tend to start from $2200 + GST and sometimes may exceed $4000 + GST.

These surveys typically have the highest range in pricing as no two blocks are the same. Our prices will reflect the level of work required not onoy on the site, but also time spent researching historical data, reference marks and previous history of identification surveys in your local area.

It’s a bit like asking, “How long is a piece of string?” as the answer varies for each block size, each area and each block type.
